Jon Cleary - solo piano
  Monday, April 29, May 6   @ 8
Tickets at the door!

Occapella is a loving stroll through the fabulous songbook of Mr Allen Toussaint, with Cleary having fun fooling around with styles yet obviously keeping the whole affair resolutely New Orleans.  With Toussaint the range of choice is huge, and one could easily see how a second or third album could follow this, such is the quantity of top tunes on offer.

It’s a short album, yet comprises 12 tracks, which makes its approach punchy – no real stretch out solos here, and much of the playing is by Cleary himself – including drums, bass, guitars, keys, percussion and of course a whole bunch of vocals.

We are so happy to be hosting Marcia Ball for her debut show at Chickie Wah Wah!  She has been to the club a couple of times and decided she really had to play here.  So let's show her a great time - already talking about bringing her back and hopefully with some of her partners in Blues crime from Austin!

Roadside Attractions, her latest CD was recorded by famed songwriter, musician and producer Gary Nicholson (Delbert McClinton, Wynonna Judd, T. Graham Brown), Roadside Attractions finds Marcia Ball at a creative peak. Ball wrote or co-wrote every song - something she had never done over the course of her forty-year career. Throughout the proceedings, her stellar musicians add power and nuance to the music, perfectly complementing Ball's expert piano playing, slice-of-life lyrics and melodic, storytelling vocals.

Phil deGruy  Alone Again...

Monday, Oct 29 &  Nov 5 @ 8  NO COVER!

Charlie Hunter said, "Phil has changed the face of the guitar without using a lot of Spandex."
Phil's approach to the guitar sounds like John Coltrane meets Mel Brooks at a party for Salvador Dali. It's uncanny the way he has conjured up such an unorthodox way to attend to virtuosity. - Steve Vai
